Hon. Bardish Chagger – Then and Now

In 2015, Bardish Chagger rode the red wave into Parliament, going from executive assistant to Member of Parliament. Young, ambitious, and full of promises, she became a symbol of change.

A decade later, much has changed—except her campaign flyer.

Despite being 45, she continues to use the same photo from 2015, clinging to an image and a message that no longer reflect her record.

Though she briefly held ministerial titles, she is best remembered for her role in the $1 billion WE Charity scandal—a deal that raised serious questions after funnelling public money to close friends of Justin Trudeau, who had wined and dined Trudeau’s family.

Perhaps, as a former executive assistant, she didn’t grasp the weight of a billion-dollar decision. But Canadians did.

Today, her own party sees her as a backbencher. And voters see through recycled promises—and recycled images.

Waterloo deserves leadership with transparency, accountability, and a vision for tomorrow—not a faded snapshot of yesterday.
